Boston Magazine – Best of Boston 2007 Bowling Alley
May 13, 2010 by adminIt may not have 24-hour lanes or the pervasive stench of stale beer, but Kings is nevertheless the city’s premier spot for throwing rocks. Dim lighting, dozens of flat-screens, good music, and a menu of pizzas, sandwiches, and appetizers provide the needed backdrop, and sustenance, for some very heated matches in the gutter, there are eight pool tables with which to salvage your sporting reputation.

Boston Magazine – Best of Boston 2006 Bowling Alley
May 8, 2010 by adminAs with so many scenes, Bill Murray puts this one over the top. Or his bowling ball does, anyway: The alley has the actor’s translucent rose-in-the-middle KingPin orb on display, along with a few other items from the Farrelly Brothers classic. Pumping music and a Rat Pack-chic lounge complete the glitz packaging, but Kings’ 16 lanes and $5 draft beers keep it firmly rooted in the throwback thrills that make rolling for strikes such a singularly good time.

The Improper Bostonian – Boston’s Best 2006 Guys’ Night Out
by adminBeing a regualar at a neighborhood haunt has its charms, but once in a while you and the boys need to broaden your horizons. Far from the usual pool and darts, Kings is an adult amusement park with a ’60s Vegas vibe. The entertainment is offbeat-16 lanes of bowling and eight and eight Gold Crown billiard tables with their own bar and lounge-and the food is hearty and manly: pork chops and steak tips, for example, with a late-night menu served until 1:45 am. It’s so much fun, you might even come back with your girlfriend.

Boston Magazine – Best of Boston 2003 Bowling Alley
by adminBowling alleys don’t traditionally offer Veuve Clicquot. But then, Kings is not your traditional bowling alley. It’s part lounge, part pool hall, and all fun. Dimly lit nooks, red fluorescent running lights, and upbeat dance tunes pumping through the cavernous one-time movie theater help make Kings the hippest place we’ve ever bowled (tenpin of course-none of that candlepin stuff).

Boston.com
by adminGaining landmark status as the Monarch of Back Bay, Kings houses an all-in-one plethora of entertainment suitable for an entire night of non-stop amusement. The main attraction is the 16-lane bowling alley that carries a retro theme with a modern twist. Celebrities often swing by to indulge in the swanky atmosphere, some of which have their own bowling locker and lane. Kings is like a giant Chuck E. Cheese’s for adults, minus the animated puppets (thankfully).

Stuff @ Night
by admin“25,000 square foot adult amusement park decked out in an array of pastel eye candy, neon accents, mural-sized riffs on Warhol-Lichtenstein-style pop art, and classic happy hour lighting requires more than a cursory scan of the premises. Rather, it proceeds far better when undertaken at a relaxed pace with a pool cue, bowling ball, or – our preference – a perfectly chilled cocktail in hand.”
